Vine & Barley

November 29, 2009

Since my mom had to work on Thursday (Thanksgiving Day) and needed a few hours to gather some information to put together a lecture I jumped at the chance to see my (and Carl’s) high school friend, Abbie and her husband Raul.  We decided to meet up at a cute little wine bar called Vine & Barley that Carl and I saw the last time we were at my mom’s house.  The description on their website describes the place pretty accurately,

Vine & Barley is a unique wine bar and craft beer lounge where tasting and buying wine & beer becomes a completely unique and affordable experience. Enjoy over 75 wines ‘self-served’ by the glass, half glass, or just a ‘taste‘if you prefer. We also have over 50 microbrewed beers from around the world, with 24 of them on tap!

It was neat to see all the different wines and I really think that the concept of being able to sample different wines is a great idea because it can introduce new wines into your rotations that you may not have even considered.

The four of us stayed at Vine & Barley for a little over an hour chatting and getting to know Raul before heading to a pizza place to get something to eat.  I’m bummed that I didn’t get a picture of Abbie and Raul, but they are making plans to move back to the US (they currently live in Spain) so we’ve made tentative plans to get together during Christmas.
