Christmas Eve Afternoon

December 24, 2009

Carl and I arrived at his parents house just before noon, unpacked the car and enjoyed chatting with his mom and brother while we waited for his dad to arrive home from work.

Since Carl’s family has a young-ish dog they decided to put their Christmas tree and presents in the “formal” living room instead of the family room where everyone usually congregates to watch TV.  Wanting to get into the Christmas spirit, which is difficult with temps in the mid to upper 70s, we decided to sit in there to chat for a while before eating lunch.

Lunch was a plate of left-over Grandpa J’s spaghetti and some unpictured chips and spinach dip.  Why do I have to love chips so much?!

A little while later we were feeling a little hungry so Carl made a green monster.  It’s been quite some time since I’ve had one and this one did not disappoint!  Keith even had one!

The green monster contained:

  • 2 handfuls of spinach
  • 1 banana
  • A few chunks of pineapple
  • Splash of cran-grape juice

Around 2:30pm Carl’s dad came home and after catching up a bit Carl’s mom and I made the batter for the crepes that we are having for dinner.  I’ve never had a crepe before and can’t wait to try them tonight!

After we eat we are going to open presents!  While I know that much of the joy of the holiday season is spending time with friends and family, I still love the smell of wrapping paper and the excitement of opening presents.  I may or may not still enjoy sticking the bows on my head, too!  See you for dinner.
