The day after Christmas

December 26, 2009

This year it was Carl’s mom’s turn to host the J-F family Christmas get together.  I started off the day with a great cup of coffee and the best bowl of oatmeal that I’ve ever made – 1/2 c. oats, almond butter and some trail mix with chocolate chips, pecans and chocolate covered espresso beans that my mom gave me while we were at her house.  YUM! The chocolate melted into the oatmeal making the best ever oatmeal.

We also did a quick gift exchange with Amy before everyone got there.  She got me a Brighton keychain, Carl a fishing shirt and we got her running stuff.

We had quite the spread of food for everyone to nosh on while they visited, although I didn’t get a picture of my plate.

People enjoyed snacking and then we started the gift exchange

When the gift exchange was over Carl’s Grandma opened up her presents from everyone.  Carl and I got her a book called The Gift of Nothing that she opened and read. When she finished she opened the gift box and there was “nothing” in it.  It’s a really cute story and totally perfect to give someone who truly has everything.

Aunt Ann has a Christmas tradition of giving all of the nephews button down shirts that she buys from thrift stores – and this year certainly didn’t disappoint!

Dessert was an ice cream cake that Keith made.  It was so good!

Then the games began – Guesstures!

Eventually everyone left and we played Wii before going to sleep.
