Ta Da!

January 1, 2010

After our amazing breakfast the boys decided to tackle setting up the shelves around the TV, which is not as easy as it sounds!  I’ve learned that many home improvement projects take longer than expected and are never as easy as they seem either.

It took four people, two and a half days, multiple trips to lots of different stores and several swear words to turn our living room from this:

to this:

We decided to put brackets under the shelf above the TV because it’s bigger and it would really suck if it fell!  We’ll probably paint them later on but I’m so glad to have everything settled with it now!

After we got everything set up Keith and Amy ran to Publix to get some things for dinner tonight so I snacked on a Glo Bar.  I’ll do a formal review of these later but let’s just say that I’m super impressed and Carl likes them too!

When they returned we busted into our Publix subs, sides and guac and chips.  I had a veggie with mozzy cheese, lettuce, tomato, olives, onions, tomatoes, sweet peppers, and green peppers.

After lunch Amy started preparing the eggplant for eggplant parm that we’re having for dinner tonight.

To remove some of the bitterness, Amy put the eggplant slices in salted water to soak for about 10 minutes

and then put some aluminum foil on the counter, added some paper towels, and blotted the eggplant dry.  They will stay covered (and she actually has a pan on them to try and press out more of the water) until we’re ready to make dinner later tonight.

While Amy got the eggplant ready the boys watched the FSU v. WVU game…

…and Bradley peaked around the corner into the kitchen to see what was going on

See you at dinner!

The new entertainment set-up looks great; a nice modern upgrade.

Didn’t FSU win? You wouldn’t know it from the expression the boys’ faces…ha, ha.

Kiya has the same stance/expression peeking around the kitchen corner 🙂 So cute and curious.

I think they just took the game too seriously 😉 Bradley’s always so cute when he’s in the kitchen because he knows he’s not supposed to be in there.
