My new friend

April 18, 2010

So I should totally be blow drying my hair right now but I have 20 minutes to either write this post or blow dry my hair. Clearly blogging is more important than looking presentable for work tomorrow – HAHA!

Since I decided to start running for time instead of distance or pace I knew I would need a simple watch to use instead of my beloved Garmin. Yes, I know my Garmin does a fine job of telling me how long I’ve been running it also tells me what my pace and distance are – and that isn’t something that I want to focus on right now. I have been coveting the Ironman watch that one of my co-workers has (I really did need a new watch my 3 year old Fossil is all kinds of scratched up) and I thought that I would look totally hard core with an Ironman watch around my wrist, don’tcha think?

All right, all right I just wanted something new! You all know that I love new stuff to inspire me to get out and exercise. Since I promised momma that I would continue exercising three times a week once I returned, Carl and I went out for a 20 min. walk before we made dinner. It took a little longer to get back than it did to get out (10 min. out and 10 min. back) so it was actually 22 minutes but it was a lovely walk and I think Bradley really enjoyed it.

I tried to get a picture of him all tuckered out by the stairs when we got back but he’s a little camera shy and ran into the kitchen to hide behind Carl. HAHA!

Dinner was simple tonight – egg salad sandwiches on a bagel with left over veggie lo mein from last night. Yeah, that’s the last of the Pepsi. Good riddance!

I swear they really do put stuff in soda to make you want more of it. I went more than a year without drinking any kind of soda and now I feel like I have to “detox” from it all over again. Bah!

Is there something that you’ve “given up” only to begin doing again?

I’ve gone through a couple of those Ironman models, not because they’re too cheap but because they’re good and I’m hard on them.

Given up…yep, dairy. Not sure which route I want to take with it right now.

Okay how cute are YOU so excited about your new watch?!?! I have an Ironman too and I just adore it. Perfect for speedwork when you are focused on shaving off seconds…not worried about average pace. Have fun!
