On the road again…

July 8, 2010

This morning came quickly after a tear-filled goodnight last night with Mom. I love coming down to visit but I swear that the longer that I’m here the more difficult it is to go. I think it just means that we have to come down more often to see everyone šŸ™‚ I think we woke up a little before 8am to say good-bye to Mom before she left for work, which was very quick and I don’t even think my eyes were totally open. Shortly after that we said good-bye to Gramps who had a doctor’s appointment this morning for a routine visit.

Carl and I made a quick breakfast – he had cereal and I had a bagel with cream cheese. I am still craving veggies (probably because I really don’t eat enough…) so I whipped up another green monster with extra spinach, soy milk, a banana and a handful of blueberries. In a beer stein. Of course there was coffee too!

Now Carl and I are cleaning up and getting ready to get back on the road again. I have high hopes of making it to the gym and dinner with some friends from work, but I may just collapse on the couch for the rest of the day/night.

How often do you get to visit with family? Do you get sad when you have to leave them?

I get back to hometown, where my parents live, about 2 times a year. They also come to visit me though. I used to get REALLY sad when I was leaving their house, but now that I have an established life in my own town I feel ok about leaving. Talking to them on a more than regular basis helps though. šŸ˜‰

i have only lived away from home for a year but my goal is visit two times a year plus a couple visits either where i live or while visited others. i have had a heard time adjusting but i think a lot of just comes from the fact that i realize i am getting older. for some reason in college that did not hit as hard as it does now that i work a full time job.

Most of my family lives in Dallas so I get to see them regularly…but there have been times when I lived other places and I missed them like crazy! Especially my mom! It’s been nice being in Dallas for the past 7 months spending time with my nieces, etc but Billy & I plan to move somewhere after the new year and I know I’ll miss them šŸ™‚

Between me visiting my parents and them visiting me, we make sure to see each other several times a year. This summer was the first time I’ve ever been homesick (E-V-E-R), and it was for my own family (Matt and Kiya) rather than my parents.
